Since we’re celebrating our great nation’s independence this weekend, I’ve been spending a little time this week transforming our deck into a red, white, and blue extravaganza—with patriotic perennials and all-American annuals from my very own garden.
For starters, I cut some white Shasta daisies and placed them in a tall vase, then interspersed them with red bee balm blossoms. Next, I attached some glittery blue stars to florist’s wire and set them among the red and white flowers. And there you have it—flowery fireworks in a vase! I also potted up some red geraniums, white hydrangeas, and blue delphiniums and placed small American flags in the containers to add to the colorful fun.
