Does a lingering cold have you all stuffed up? Blast your sniffles to Kingdom Come with a little heat—from naturally hot foods like garlic, onions, and cayenne pepper! After just one bite, your body will feel the heat, you’ll start to sweat, and your nose will begin to run. Plus, your brain will chill out with a flood of endorphins—mood lifting natural painkillers that create a sense of well-being.
Either way, your cold symptoms will ease, and your nose will feel a whole lot clearer. My favorite way to deliver the heat is to cook up a pot of chicken soup (no need to get fancy—canned will do just fine). Then add fresh garlic and plenty of ground cayenne pepper to it. Inhale the fumes while you sip the soup, and you’ll be breathing freely in no time at all!
